A Local Realtor Will Have Inside Knowledge
If you are looking for a your first or next home to buy then your first step is most likely to find a realtor who is going to represent you in the transaction. In most major cities you have a ton of choice as every neighbourhood has a brokerage and each has many realtors in it. If you want to make the best decision then you should take your time in choosing your real estate agent.
One of the first things you need to do is to find an agent who works in the area that you want to buy in. Many realtors may tell you that is does not matter and that you only need to be concerned with the experience of your real estate sales representative. This is only partly true however. While experience is a large part of the equation a local agent will have local knowledge.
For example a Brampton realtor will know a lot more about the Brampton real estate market then an agent from Toronto would. Since they live and work on the same area they are more in tune with the local goings on. There may be a widening of the road in the near future that would mean construction and noise for months or every years. it would be a terrible thing to find out something like that only after you bought what you thought was your dream home.
As with anything it pays to hire an expert. You only need to remember that all experts are not created equally.
