Consider the cost of hireing a 3d studio

So you are considering to hire a 3D professional on your staff. Have you really considered the costs? Most architectural firm employees will know a little something about 3d architecture. They will have probably studied it in college and have dabbled in 3d. Most of this is pretty sorry looking 3d and if you think about it the hand ink illustrations form 10 years ago looked better. So you decide that its time to hire a 3d pro on the staff. Here is a few reasons to consider a architectural rendering studio instead.

Unless you are a large architectural firm with mountains of work, you probably cannot keep a 3d artist busy full time. Its hard to find someone who is really good at 3d and can also do your cad. Typically the two professions are disconnected and you ether have a good cad tech or a good 3d artist. So a good 3d artist will be sitting around and doing very little half the time waiting for the 3d work from the pipeline. If you work with a 3d visualization firm, they are a consultant so you only need them from time to time and they don’t cost you anything while there is no need for 3d.

Another aspect of 3d architecture and 3d rendering is infrastructure. If you ever see how much software and the proper equipment to run it costs, you will never get the investment back unless you are rendering projects all the time. Again, it makes more sense to just work with a architectural rendering firm that maintains their own equipment and can provide you with top notch images when you need them.
