Oshawa is know as an automotive city and has been the home of General Motors Canada since the early 1900s. The town grew steadily along with the company and now has a population of over 150,000 inhabitants. Although the automotive industry no longer employs as many people as it used to, the Oshawa real estate market continues to grow due to the easy access to Toronto through Go Transit and the recently built 407 highway. Many commuters are choosing the city of Oshawa because of its relatively low housing prices. While this town was originally mainly blue collar, its demographics is changing.
